Confectioners' conference

"The traces of the Grisons confectioners in the destination countries" The history of the Grisons confectioners has already been largely researched from the perspective of the migrants. The memories of this past are still alive in our country today, partly because the traces of this history are still clearly visible in some villages, including Poschiavo. The patrician houses from the 19th century as well as the economic initiatives financed by the migrants, which brought the valley an upswing, bear witness to the pioneering spirit of those who were successful abroad. But what did the confectioners' activities abroad lead to? This part of the story is still little researched here. What traces did the Grisons confectioners leave behind in the numerous European cities? And how did people in the countries of emigration view the activities of the Grisons confectioners? The Confectioners' Conference 2025 in Poschiavo will explore these questions. Four experts from Spain, Poland, England and France have therefore been invited to present their research findings from their perspective. In addition, a dialog with locals who have studied the life of the Grisons confectioners in depth is planned. The conference language is Italian. The presentations in English and French will be simultaneously translated into Italian in the hall.
