Silvio Lanfranchi, successful businessman
Unlike many from the Reformed Church in Poschiavo, who emigrated in the 1800s when they were barely fifteen and who learnt to be pastry chefs when they arrived, Silvio Lanfranchi (1900-1991), was a Catholic who settled in England in 1920 having obtained a diploma as a baker-pastry chef at a vocational school in Lucerne. He established himself as a skilled entrepreneur and cultivated a special hobby.
